Job SummaryPlans, coordinates, and supervises all activities related to the design, development, implementation and support of enterprise and web-based software applications. Manages a team of business and technical resources. Works closely with business leaders and IT management to ensure alignment of IT priorities with business initiatives. Essential Functions--- Collaborate with Business Units to determine business drivers and needs for technology solutions --- Collaborate with business partners and internal teams to evaluate solution options, align, prioritize and coordinate development activities including requirements gathering, estimating, development, integration, testing and deployment --- Work with business leaders to prioritize development projects, manage resource utilization, coordinate project schedules and consolidate projects into logical programs --- Develop and deploy strategies, standards, methodologies and best practices for web-based and enterprise applications software development --- Manage the design, development, and deployment of web-based custom applications, common user interfaces, information and knowledge management portals --- Evaluate design alternatives; recommend and negotiate integration solutions based on business requirements --- Research, evaluate, implement and support commercial off the shelf software solutions --- Manage upgrades and enhancements to existing applications --- Provide management and oversight of multiple large projects --- Prepare, establish, and monitor budgets --- Drive efficient and effective technical approach to increase productivity, performance and on-time delivery (build and release management including source control, automated build and integrated unit testing tools) --- Develop and Manage Release schedules --- Demonstrate a proactive approach to mitigating risks, improving quality, and resolving issues as they occur --- Ensure solution meets all unit, acceptance, functional, system, performance, security requirements enterprise technology standards --- Contribute to and enforce policies, organization and processes that produce an agile and predictable application development environment resulting in reliable and efficient solutions. --- Provide regular reporting on overall status, resources and issues as needed to ensure successful development and application delivery --- Ensure compliance with controls and procedures --- Recruit, develop and retain a high performance team that acts as a business partner across departments, and provides innovative ideas for the technology solutions --- Develop team members to increase bench strength and flexibility of the development function --- Develop, foster, and enforce team accountability to meet commitments --- Conduct performance appraisals and perform salary administration Education DescriptionBachelor's degree in Business or IT, Computer Science, MIS from an accredited college or university Experience--- 10 years experience in a Customer related leadership role --- Experience leading applications development/production support resources --- Ability to fully grasp complex system architectures, including multiple inter-related databases and intricate business rule logic Physical RequirementsWorking ConditionsWe want you to know Being a part of the CenterPoint Energy team is more than a career alone.
