technology, is rapidly expanding.JOB SUMMARYThe Director of
Mechanical Engineering coordinates all aspects of mechanical
engineering, design, drafting, and system tools functions for
development of new and improvements of existing products. He/she
also provides the resources required to the different product teams
and is responsible for standardization of standards, procedures,
and processes within engineering.
- Directs mechanical engineering resources for both new and
existing products.
- Works with HR to provide resources to the product teams as per
budget.
- Supports the Project Team(s) to ensure all products meet the
company requirements for Maintainability, Reliability, and
Supportability.
- Optimizes resource utilization on the product teams.
- Ensures that resources are adequately trained to support
project activities and objectives. Develops resource training plan
based on need.
- Provides mentoring and guidance to associates to grow their
skills and attitudes in support of the company objectives and
values.
- Maintains Engineering Metrics tracking with a focus on
optimizing department performance; collaborating with all team
members to ensure on-time completion.
- Provides accurate project resource budgeting.
- Maintains product safety in all designs.
- Optimizes internal processes and procedures to meet company
objectives.
- Provides technical support to Marketing.
- Provides technical support to the different product teams.
- Coaches product leadership teams.
- Participates in design reviews to ensure designs meet required
regulatory codes.
- Evaluates new ideas for eligibility to apply for a patent and
interacts with the patent lawyers throughout the patent application
and grant process.
- Interacts with Vendors on new technologies in
manufacturing.
- Manages offshore development teams.
- Participates in industry conferences and committees such as
API, IADC, SPE, AADE, etc.
- Responsible for department budgets.
- Other duties may be assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThe
Director of Mechanical has overall responsibility for engineering
and designing managers within the mechanical engineering. He/she
also supervises the Systems and Tools within engineering.MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelors or master's
degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum 10 years' experience in
engineering of Capital Equipment and an additional 10 years in
managerial position in oilfield operation, service, or equipment
manufacturing.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, comprehend, and write
in English. Ability to effectively present technical information to
colleagues, customers, and vendors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAs per basic
engineering requirements.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common
sense understanding to create instructions and furnish them in
written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to understand the level of
competency of all employees in the engineering groups.COMPUTER
SKILLSManufacturing/Inventory software, AutoCAD/Solidworks/Adept or
PLM systems, Spreadsheet and word processor software, Scheduling
and POWERPOINT presentation software.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,
REGISTRATIONSRegistration with at least one applicable engineering
society required (i.e. ASME, IEEE, etc). Valid Driver License.OTHER
SKILLS AND ABILITIESValid passport. Domestic and international
travel may be required. Marketing support - customer
relations.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSEssential engineering expertise,
knowledge of drilling engineering principles, drilling practices,
and drilling rigs. General computer proficiency. Knowledge of
drafting principles including CAD. Basic understanding and
knowledge of how engineering software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works,
Math Cad, and Simulation finite element analysis works and is used
for Canrig designs. Knowledge of oilfield regulatory requirements
(API, DNV, ABS, CE, ATEX, etc). Department budgeting abilities.
Design creativity. Understanding of patents.Nabors is committed to
